UNIVERSAL I generation

UNIVERSAL joints, first generation, are universal joints for pipe failures which connect pipes made from either same or different material.

These joints are used for repairs of pipeline failures when a pipe rupture is of such a length that cutting off pipe and inserting a new piece of pipe is necessary.

We manufacture three types of these joints: UNIVERSAL, UNIVERSAL-C and UNIVERSAL-D. All characteristics considering diameter range, which is listed for EXTRA joints, are also applied to UNIVERSAL joints.

It is important to mention that during the selection of diameter range, which is covered by EXTRA and UNIVERSAL joints, special attention was made in order to make possible to repair failures on asbestos-cement pipes type C and D by inserting pipe part made of steel, cast iron or plastic, in case that providing appropriate asbestos-cement pipe is not possible, which is commonly the case.

For the nominal diameter range of DN350 upwards UNIVERSAL I generation joints are being dominantly used because they have a lower mass due to their shorter installation lengths, which is an advantage in terms of cost and easy handling during installation, especially because with the increase in nominal pipe diameter there is less importance in universality of the joint (although these joints still cover a wide range of outer pipe dimensions for each nominal diameter).

Additional advantage of using UNIVERSAL I joints is that in cases of very limited installation space damages on pipelines can be resolved by using just one joint in such way that only a small part of the pipe is being cut off, in sufficient size to enable inserting parts of the joints through (one half of the joint goes on each side of the opening) and then, by simply connecting inserted parts, the installation and repair is complete.
